6/23/2023 0 Comments Vlc emby client![]() And in spite of that dreadful change, I'll take it any day over the what Plex was doing when I quit using them. But I just checked and it does the same thing as Roku. I haven't used the Android app in so long I can't remember if it was always like that. (I usually have 12 to 15 I work through.) I have to scroll all the way to the right to get to the next one in my rotation. (It would rotate through the shows endlessly if I kept scrolling in either direction.). I used to be able to move one show left and pick up what I was going to watch next. Before, I opened up the Roku app and the last show I watched was where I landed first. I rotate several shows at a time and watch an episode or two, then move to the next one. I use Continue Watching exclusively except when I watch a movie (rarely), go to a podcast (also rarely) or add a new show to my rotation. I loved the Roku app until the other day. Now I have better speeds using wireless than I used to get with wired. Both of those changed after I moved here. Part of that was the NAS, and part of it was that the modem was slower. It also used to happen sometimes on the old NAS I used to use when my wife, son and I were streaming at the same time. Most of the times I've had problems it was because the media I had contained glitches. I haven't had much trouble with streaming. Every now and then I use the Android app. I use Roku for streaming for the most part. ![]() Not related to emby playback, but another firmware update a few years ago broke HDCP negotiation on my HDMI chain when connected to my soundbar so I had to connect my soundbar to my TV audio out which is inferior. The only way I got them to work on Roku is by re-muxing them. They play back on the emby web client and on VLC just fine. ![]() More recently I found some special features won't play back because Roku doesn't like something in the mkv header. The above were correctable by selecting the "attempt playback correction" option in the emby client repeatedly. There is always some compatibility issue with playback.Ī few years ago Roku did a firmware update that caused some videos to play 2x faster than normal, while the audio was normal speed.Īnother firmware update (or might have been the same one) caused some videos to play with the wrong aspect ratio. ![]() I use emby on my Roku 4660X (Ultra) and other models. The only difference is your receiver will recognize the audio stream as PCM instead of Dolby/DTS. What your ears hear will be exactly the same. Since LPCM is a lossless format, using it will result in no loss of quality. Since Dolby and DTS are both compressed formats, Infuse will first decompress this audio before sending it to your receiver as LPCM (some receivers will display this as PCM, or Multi-Channel). Why isn't my receiver recognizing the audio as Dolby or DTS? This will provide the highest possible audio quality, and will adjust automatically to a wide array of audio system types. Keeping the Apple TV set to Auto is recommended. My movies have Dolby or DTS audio - which settings should I use? LPCM is an uncompressed, lossless format which on the Apple TV supports up to 7.1 channels of 24-bit, 48KHz audio. Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA are lossless audio formats that provide greater depth and dynamic range when compared to normal Dolby (AC3) and DTS audio. 6/23/2023 0 Comments Barotrauma undertowThe ocean itself is inhabited by a number of aquatic creatures, as well as naturally forming cave systems. The ocean also allowed for the creation of transportation shafts that interconnect the colonies throughout the moon. Over many decades, colonies and outposts have been forced to establish under the layer of ice covering the surface of the moon, due to the surface being too irradiated for survival. ![]() The setting of the game is on Europa, one of Jupiter’s moons, which has become colonized since its initial arrival in 2022. The game's wiring mechanic was inspired by Minecraft's redstone mechanics and MechComp in Space Station 13.īarotrauma takes place in the distant future, during an era where humanity is technologically advanced enough to achieve manned interplanetary space travel. The game's art style is said to be inspired by Link-Dead, a 2D side-scrolling shooter which had also been in development for a while before being presumed dead. The idea of having Lovecraftian monsters be the main threat in the game most likely inspired the enemies in Barotrauma as well. Several developers have attempted to make an actual game based on this concept, but so far none have been completed. The lab would be attacked by underwater sea creatures, and it would be up to the player to try to escape the lab. The game would've taken place in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean, inside a research lab. Pressure is a game concept that originated from 4chan's video game board /v/. The horror aspects and underwater setting of the game were inspired by Pressure. The resource management aspects of the game were inspired by Space Station 13, and may have intentionally given Regalis the idea to make the game two-dimensional rather than 3D. Barotrauma draws inspiration from several different sources. He would later begin working on an entirely new game which deviated greatly from his previous works. You can grab Barotrauma for £21.50/$30/€25 from Steam. After the success of Joonas ("Regalis") Rikkonen's SCP - Containment Breach, he was encouraged to begin pursuing a career in game design and to start his own company, Undertow Games. They haven't said when they're planning on leaving early access. It's still in early access, and it seems most of what's left is exploring outside your lovely, probably leaking, traitor-filled submarine. It was still a blast, mind, because traitors in any context are delightful - especially when you play with a group where genuine skulduggery is hard to distinguish from your friends just goofing about. I've only dipped into a few rounds of Barotrauma, in an earlier, clunkier build back when there was way less to do. They also do not typically work toward productivity and improving technology as the government controls them. There is almost zero competition, so businesses may become inefficient. So, there is no external incentive to do better work. Similarly, there can be a shortage if it produces little of something that is in demand.Įven if people work hard, their income stays the same. If the government created an excess of something that is not needed, there will be wastage. But it may not accurately understand what people want. The government decides what should be made and what quantities are produced. For example, the North Korean government does not allow its citizens to move from city to city, even within the country. Even if you are allowed to do non-government work, this right may be withdrawn at any moment. The government decides your income and the type of job you do. That’s why countries like Russia and China have moved away from a command economic system. But in reality, inefficiencies generally pile up in the system. The government’s central plan usually has a low unemployment target.Ī command economy works in theory. So the unemployment levels can be close to zero, in theory, even if many jobs create no economic value. The government can provide jobs to all citizens because it controls all businesses. In theory, the government does not look to make a profit, so, everything is usually affordable - though low-quality goods (think East German tenements) and persistent shortages (think bread lines) tend to be the results. They are not influenced by demand, supply, or any other factors. The government decides prices in a command economy. In theory, the government can use all its resources to provide people with most necessities quickly during emergencies like natural disasters or wars. Command economies - in theory - usually aim to redistribute wealth more equally. Countries like Russia and China had command economies at one point in time for several different reasons. 6/23/2023 0 Comments Spiral knights best gunyou know calibur is taken for its charge attack and not its normal attacks so I guess that is considered particular. But just remember that if you find you have a hard time that there are probably other weapons that will make your problem a lot "There is no particular reason to own a normal sword or a normal gun."Ĭorrection: There is a particular reason and a particular reason only to own a normal weapon :) specifially guns. And honestly, there is no correct answer as it is whatever is fun for you to play. If you want to focus on guns, then I'd suggest having either a BTB or flourish since they deal with monsters that dodge a lot (and maybe a bomb). So, if you want to focus on swords, I suggest having one alchemer as a side arm (or maybe a haze style bomb like the Ash of Agni or Voltaic Tempest). ![]() There is a reason there are 3 weapon types, so you might as well carry what is appropriate for your surroundings and/or needs. If they had 3 of the same type, and one of another almost all of their problems would go away. Often times there are threads complaining about things in the game, and the end result is that they have 4 of a single weapon type and can't do some basic task while solo. If there are other bombers or gunners I almost never switch off my swords, but if all we have are swordsmen, then I use my gun/bomb when appropriate. I almost always carry two swords, and either a gun or bomb. I would only go "pure" if you know you are going to be in a party with people who have other weapons. But I recommend that you make your choice, and then make it work, and then re-evaluate and try other choices. It has drawbacks and advantages, relative to other mixes. Your mix of weapons is a highly personal choice. However, in FSC I play with sword, gun, bomb. Another option is just to charge against the other monsters, trying to one-shot them. If I don't have a haze bomb on me, I often charge up my Acheron and dive into the crowd to kill the menders. Another delicate situation is that of two Tier-3 gremlin menders hidden in a crowd in an arena. But this situation is rare, and sometimes predictable and avoidable, and always a fun challenge. The main place, where pure swords is a hindrance, is a field of gun puppies protected by spikes. For example, I use three weapon slots, and usually play with three swords. Lots of people play as pure sworders, or as pure gunners, or as pure bombers. An elemental sword with an elemental gun would be bad against the elemental-resisting monsters (beasts and gremlins). A piercing sword with an elemental gun would also be good. ![]() Thus Nightblade and Firotech is a good combination (shadow sword and elemental gun). If you use a mix of swords and guns, then your gun should probably be elemental, because swords can have difficulty against turrets, and elemental is the best damage type to use against turrets. Bombs do not quite follow these rules so well they are a little more idiosyncratic. There is no particular reason to own a normal sword or a normal gun. Or you could have a piercing gun and an elemental gun. For example, you could have a shadow sword and an elemental sword. Whether you're using swords, guns, or a mixture of swords and guns, you want two (or three) non-normal damage types, so that you can take advantage of the weaknesses of monsters see the wiki page on Damage. Fortunately, you can change it whenever you want. It is the most important choice you make, about what kind of knight you want to be, and there is no right answer. The closest thing we have is the kind of weapons you use. There are no "character classes" in Spiral Knights, such as healer, archer, warrior, etc. ![]() The Evil Overlord, The Emperor, The Generalissimo, the Evil Chancellor, or President Evil in a dystopia or war/spy story that focuses on a specific conflict within a much larger military or political situation. This furthers the idea that they are on a different level of villainy. Their threat is indirect they work through lesser villains by encouraging them to do evil, and the Big Bad is likely to be the head of their religion. A demon lord, archdevil, God of Evil, or Eldritch Abomination - perhaps even The Anti-God - with a Religion of Evil and/or Path of Inspiration built around them, if they do not appear directly. ![]() If they are released, the Big Bad may learn that Evil Is Not a Toy. A Sealed Evil in a Can that the current Big Bad is obsessed with, which may or may not get released. There are different ways this may manifest, for example: A Greater-Scope Villain is a more threatening force of evil in the setting and overshadows it, but due to various factors, it is disconnected on a personal level from the main plot, which is caused by the Big Bad. Whatever the relationship between the Big Bad and Greater-Scope Villain, the Greater-Scope Villain is always Out of Focus - the threat they pose is general and in the background, while the threat posed by the Big Bad is specific and immediate. A Greater-Scope Villain may be the Big Bad's superior, but just as often they're completely unrelated - indeed, a Greater-Scope Villain may threaten the Big Bad just as much as they threaten the heroes. They are just responsible for anything evil or fueling at least a part of the fictional setting (how much of it depends on the scale of the Greater-Scope Villain's influence) in which the story takes place. While the Big Bad is directly responsible for the current story - the Big Bad is the villain that the heroes are attempting to defeat - a Greater-Scope Villain isn't a major force in the plot, only a major force in the background. But what about a greater enemy that is indirectly responsible for the plot? That's where this trope comes in.Ī Greater-Scope Villain is a threat/villainous presence that's more dangerous, affects more people, or is more significant than the story's current Big Bad in the setting as a whole, but isn't causing the conflict of the immediate story (and may have little to do with it at all). Nearly every conflict in fiction is caused by the Big Bad, the character directly responsible for the plot and likely sending out various minions and lieutenants to make the hero's life busy. 6/22/2023 0 Comments Raafi the color machineIn fact, there were not many customers and study obligations meant spending more on hiring help.ĭetermined to make his venture a success, the new business owner decided to quit university and dedicate all his efforts to his kebab cart. Individuals seeking assistance from Foresight begin through a process where they are steered to services either by their own selection or from that of the company. “We ended up taking the technology we were working on, bringing it in house and hiring our own psychiatrists and therapists in the Berkeley area,” Hapeman said. Foresight pivots to become a providerįrom its early days and challenges of distributing software, Foresight would pivot to its current incarnation in late 2018 as a full-service, tech-driven mental health provider, with local college students serving as its initial customer base. From there, the groundwork was laid for Foresight’s new direction through the help of entrepreneurship programs and incubators in and around Berkeley. “We originally started Foresight as a software company and tried to solve some of those problems as an engineer would with software, but found a lot of challenges with distributing software,” Milford said.Īlthough the software failed to get a sufficient number of providers on board, the idea of tech-driven health care still struck a chord with the two. “We really started discussing some of the challenges that we had seen in that industry, particularly around the prescribing decision making process,” Hapeman told BHB.īy their estimates, the two would consult with around 100 psychiatrists to learn more about mental health care practices and would also work on a software program to track patient outcomes, which was the genesis of Foresight. “Seeing those challenges in the existing system was what really motivated me personally, and made me quite interested in solving some of the challenges in mental health care.”īack in Berkeley, both Milford and Hapeman started thinking of how they could draw on technology to make the mental health care experience more seamless. “Even if they were able to get in, a low-tech, outdated experience, and a lot of people weren’t even tracking outcomes,” he said. “It was seeing them trying to find a provider, being placed on a waitlist and paying hundreds of dollars out of pocket because no one wants to take any insurance,” he said.ĭrawing upon his own tech studies, Milford felt that even when friends were able to overcome issues of stigma to see a provider, the care they were receiving was insufficient. While Hapeman was dealing with prescription access issues, Milford was studying in Paris on Novemwhen coordinated terrorist attacks in the city killed 130 people. The roots of Foresight go back to personal experiences that Milford and Hapeman – both of whom met while studying engineering at the University of California-Berkeley – had with mental health challenges.
